Tucson, Arizona

Renee Chastant,

who calls herself a "recovering lawyer," has only been painting in watercolor since 2006.

Yet, her paintings, which range from realistic depictions to the abstract, show an understanding of color and shadow and a gentle movement across the paper which seems gathered from a lifetime in her medium.

The New Orleans native divides her time between Colorado and Tucson and finds her inspiration in almost anything "organic."

She is a recent member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild and a juried member of the LIttleton Fine Arts Guild in Colorado.

Ms. Chastant shares her home with her husband, Steve, who she asserts is the nicest man in the world. She also has a very peculiar cat with no appreciation for art and who refuses to take phone messages.

Our store has decided to carry her work in the form of tasteful, high-end coasters where her paintings are delicately matted between durable, frosted glass and sleek metal which can also double as hangable artwork.
